If youāre new to yoga, it can be challenging to know which type of class is right for you.
Yoga is a multi-faceted practice, combining mind, body, breath and spirituality, and a great class will combine of all of these elements.
Below Iāve outlined some of the different styles I guide, and what you might expect from attending classes and retreats with meā¦
Different types of practiceā¦
vinyasa flow - hatha flow
a moving meditation
Vinyasa flow and hatha flow classes are fluid, creative and flowing. Youāll move through a sequence, combining movement and breath to create a moving meditation. Classes can be powerful and dynamic, or slow and soothing depending on the mood.
They offer a wonderful way to explore your body, discovering ways of moving that nourish you, and discovering the ultimate mind-body connection. My vinyasa flow classes inspire growth, with options to progress your practice in a way that works for you.
yin yoga
the art of surrender
Yin yoga is a practice of stillness. Unlike more dynamic yoga styles, yin is practiced in stillness. Poses are held for an extended period of time (usually up to 5 minutes) and focus on cultivating a deep release in the body that focuses on fascia and connective tissue.
It is a great practice for joint health and increased mobility. Yin is also a meditative practice, providing space to practice mindfulness. Yin yoga classes can be more challenging or calming depending on the mood.
pause - listen - connect
Meditation comes in many different forms, and is at the heart of a yoga practice. Itās what separates yoga from other forms of movement and exercise, and guides you to a place of connection with yourself and the world around you. Regular meditation can transform how you feel, helping you to quiet the mind and rebalance the nervous system.
Meditation can come in many different forms, from yoga nidra and guided meditations through to breathwork, mindfulness and sitting in stillness. My aim as a teacher is to make meditation accessible for everyone.
