Hey – I’m Susie and I’m a yoga teacher based in the South Bedfordshire, North Buckinghamshire region. I’ve been teaching yoga since early 2015 and practicing for much longer. I wasn’t always in to healthy, holistic living and initially started out my career in the world of journalism and public relations. I spent eight years living and working in London, was exposed to some incredible opportunities and had a lot of fun along the way. However, excessive stress, pressure and exhaustion became a normality in my life and achieving a work-life balance was near impossible. I felt unable to live my life in the present moment and felt lost in my professional life.

That’s where yoga came in. When I first discovered yoga something seemed to click. After each session I felt an indescribable euphoria – an openness not just in my body but in my mind too. A sense of calm. A feeling like “I got this”, and persistent feelings of being overwhelmed felt instantly more manageable. I felt an ease and openness in my body that I’d not felt before and I actively started to get fitter, stronger, more flexible and toned.

Over time yoga went from being something I did when I had the time to an integral part of my life and overall wellbeing. I had a nagging feeling that I needed to explore yoga further and to fully immerse myself in to the practice. So on my 30th birthday I announced to friends and family what I was thinking and a few weeks later I handed my notice in and had signed up for a teacher training.

In February 2015 I spent a month in intensive training with the team at Absolute Yoga Academy in Thailand to train in Hot Yoga. I am now a certified Yoga Alliance (US) 200hr teacher. I have also conducted further training in both Yin Yoga (under the guidance of Sarah Lo) and Pregnancy and Post Natal Yoga (Nadia Narain at Triyoga), both under Yoga Alliance UK, and several immersions to deepen my understanding of Vinyasa Flow.

Since graduating I have taught at a number of studios in Buckinghamshire and Hertfordshire, however my primary focus is setting up and teaching my own classes in private studios and community spaces. This allows me the flexibility to teach to my own style and rhythm. I also teach a small number of private clients who want to focus on their practice in a more intimate one-to-one environment.

On 31st May 2016 I gave birth to my son Felix – by far the greatest achievement of my life and who, along with my husband Stuart, inspires me every day to become a stronger person, a kinder human, to respect life in all its forms, and to continue following my dreams.
